Cheat Codes in GTA V

PC, PlayStation, Xbox

To enter a cheat on the keyboard, you need to press “~” or “\” and then enter a letter code. On the controller, you need to press the buttons in a certain sequence. In the enhanced version of the game, codes can also be entered using an in-game mobile phone.

On the controller, cheat codes can be entered both during the gameplay and in the pause menu. If a cheat has been entered in the pause menu, it’s necessary to press the “Start” button to activate it.

Pay attention: on controllers, “Left”, “Right”, “Up” and “Down” refers to the arrows on the D-Pad, not analog sticks.

Slow Motion

Important to Know

Unlike 3D-universe games, using cheats in GTA 5 doesn’t lead to irretrievable consequences, such as an inability to complete some missions. However, there are still some specifics.

  • Activating a cheat during a mission disables 100% completion for that mission.
  • Activating cheats disables achievements (trophies) till the end of a game session.
  • Some cheats are not available during some missions and other activities.
  • Some cheats can’t be activated at the same time. For instance, in the enhanced versions of the game, the Skyfall cheat can’t be activated while the Super Jump is active.
  • Some of the effects caused by the cheats can be changed and / or disabled by re-entering these cheats. For instance, the Slidey Cars code or the Slow Mo code.
  • The cheats don’t work in GTA Online.
